The students at Saint John Bosco (SJB) Catholic School have been busy planning and hosting celebrations of family spirit and holiness. Salesian Middle Schools gathered at SJB to commemorate the feast day of their patron saint, Saint John Bosco, with adoration, games, food and discourse. Mary Help of Christians in Laredo and St James from San Antonio joined SJB in the fun. The students were graced by the participation of a Salesian priest, Fr. Lucero, from California. Everyone was especially surprised and thrilled to be visited by students and a Sister chaperone visiting San Antonio from a Salesian school in South Korea!
A seventh grader from SJB, Emily Pohl, enthused, “It was cool seeing all the kids from other schools, even from another country, and knowing that we are all so different, but still part of one big family!”
All young people are generous at heart and enthusiastic to share their talents. This is never more evident than during Mission Fair at Saint John Bosco in San Antonio. Students, Parents, and Staff eagerly participated in providing fun games and great food at this annual fair devoted to fundraising. This year, all money received was donated to the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA). “Children helping children” is a precept of MCA and St. John Bosco School was gratified to help young people in unfortunate circumstances. The students at SJB also financially contribute on a weekly basis to worldwide Salesian missions. This year, the students are praying for and sending their weekly offerings to a Salesian school in Myanmar. St. John Bosco School is looking forward to continuing their tradition of service, especially to the youth of the world, as modeled by their patron and favorite saint, Saint John Bosco!
