St. Gerard Royals giving back to the community

St. Gerard Catholic High School, home of the Royals, is proud to share some of the many accomplishments achieved over the first few months of school. Not only is the campus still blooming during the beautification process, but we are thrilled with the installation of brand new scoreboards on campus. The Mighty Royal Football team has a beautiful, new scoreboard shining across the field. It can be seen from miles away and its glow brings warmth to our hearts and hope to the fans. Our indoor sports are just as excited with the installation of a new scoreboard in Royal Gym. With the new paint, new chairs, new banners, and brilliant boards in our gymnasium, we are ready to raise the roof and make it happen!

Speaking of making it happen, at the Hope for the Future 5K Run, St. Gerard did just that! We are proud to announce that Principal De Anda was the winner of the Principal Throw-down Race Challenge — for the female division. She was the fastest female principal and thus won a special prize which she will be dedicating to the school. To make it even better, three St. Gerard students won the costume contest challenge. An amazing trio of seniors, Emily Cervantes, Alexandra Perez, and Oksana Sanchez were dressed as Ninja Turtles and won the judgeā€™s hearts.

As the holiday season approaches, we will continue our collection process of toys for Operation Christmas, canned goods for the San Antonio Food Bank, blankets and beds for local animal shelters, and cards for the Wounded Warriors Foundation. The St. Gerard Catholic High School community gives back in countless ways and is dedicated to continue living the mission.

Michelle De Anda is principal of St. Gerard Catholic High School.
