St. Anthony Catholic School launches Spanish immersion program

St. Anthony Catholic School announced the launch of a Spanish immersion program for students, offering a best-in-class academic option for families who wish to either reinforce or develop Spanish language skills in their children. LISTA — Language Immersion at St. Anthony — was developed by a local committee of experts in language studies, curriculum and instruction. The program will officially launch this Fall.

“For over 113 years, we have adapted and expanded to meet the needs of our student body. The launch of this Spanish immersion program is an example of how we continue to evolve with the community,” said Derrich Rodriguez, Board chair.

The LISTA program will begin in Pre-K3 through kindergarten, and will follow that kindergarten class through fifth grade. “The LISTA program, will open the doors of opportunity for our students,” said Patricia Ramirez, principal. “Students that are bilingual, biliterate and bicultural will be better prepared for future careers and to serve our community. Studies show that immersion students develop strong problem-solving skills, a greater sensitivity to verbal and non-verbal cues, enhanced cognitive flexibility as well as stronger multicultural awareness.”

Space is limited for this Fall. To inquire about enrollment or for more information on LISTA, contact Brandy Flores, director of Admissions & Marketing, at [email protected].
