Sharing condolences and prayers for Father Michael Bouzigard at memorial Mass

A memorial Mass for Father Michael Bouzigard, SJ, was held at Assumption Seminary’s Our Lady’s Chapel on December 15, with Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS, presiding, and Auxiliary Bishop Michael Boulette as the homilist.

Dozens of priests of the archdiocese were in attendance at the liturgy for Father Bouzigard, who passed away suddenly on December 1. Father Bouzigard was most recently serving in the Office for Clergy in Continuing Education for Priests as well as spiritual director at Assumption Seminary. His funeral Mass was held in Grand Coteau, La., on December 8. He was buried in the Jesuit cemetery at St. Charles College in Grand Coteau.

Archbishop Gustavo spoke of the shock and devastation at Father Bouzigard’s recent passing. “We always found him to be a great listener and a great example of peace, joy, and gratitude. Father Mike will also be missed by so many people who knew him through his ministries,” the archbishop stated. “Father Mike’s death has been very hard on all of us and it becomes an opportunity for all of us to cultivate the good virtues he practiced amongst us. He was a faithful priest to the end.”
