Seton Home receives $2,500 donation from Security Service Federal Credit Union Charitable Foundation

Seton Home has been awarded a $2,500 grant from the Security Service Federal Credit Union Charitable Foundation. The funds will be used to help provide Seton Home residents with basic needs including baby formula, diapers, wipes, shoes, coats, school uniforms and several other necessities.

“We are pleased to be able to play a role in Seton Home’s mission to provide a safe and caring environment for at-risk pregnant and parenting mothers and their children,” said Stephen Schott, senior vice president of finance and accounting for Security Service and Board member for Seton Home. “Our hope is that this donation will positively impact the on-site child development center which will allow these teen mothers to continue their education and become better providers for their current and future children.”

Seton Home is a non-profit organization serving Texas by providing a home for girls, ages 12-17 who are escaping trauma, abuse and neglect and are also pregnant and/or parenting. More than 90 percent of the young mothers living at Seton Home have been removed from their households by Child Protective Services and are two or more years behind in school.

“Security Service Federal Credit Union has long supported Seton Home. We are truly grateful for their kindness and compassion towards our mission. From volunteering at our galas to decorating our Santa’s Workshop at Christmas, Security Service is always there to lend their support. This generous gift will truly help us where we need it most, in basic everyday needs,” said Tiffany Walker, executive director of Seton Home. “It is only through the partnerships with organizations such as Security Service and their Charitable Foundation that we are able to continue our mission.”

Founded in 1981, Seton Home has been providing hope and healing to two generations, mothers and their children, for 35 years. Seton Home is a home for girls ages 12-17 who, in most cases, have been removed from their homes by Child Protective Services due to abuse, neglect or sexual assault, and are also pregnant and/or parenting a child. Seton Home works to break the cycle of abuse and poverty by providing a caring home, education, and support services necessary to transform the lives of pregnant and parenting teen mothers and their children.
