Missionaries of the Holy Infant Jesus of Good Health

WHO ARE WE?

Our congregation, the Missionaries of the Holy Infant Jesus of Good Health, was founded in Morelia, Michoacán, México, on Sept. 9, 1966. We are a diocesan religious institute of apostolic life, composed of sisters who profess public perpetual vows of chastity, poverty and obedience, who live our lives in community, and who dedicate ourselves to the works of our apostolate (Canon N. 607, 2).

OUR ORIGIN AND OBJECTIVE

Our congregation was initiated, thanks to God, and to María Guadalupe Calderón Castañeda and Estela Barreda González, two great women filled with strength and generosity. These two young ladies had a deep love for the mystery of Jesus’ childhood, and a devotion to the Holy Infant Jesus of Good Health. As Misses Calderón and Barreda dedicated their lives to promoting devotion to the Holy Infant Jesus of Good Health, the desire was gradually born in them to found a religious congregation dedicated both to extending this devotion, and to helping the poorest and neediest of people, in particular, women and unprotected children.

OUR AIM

Our aim is to seek our own perfection and sanctification, and to extend the reign of God on earth, participating in the mission entrusted to us by Jesus and his apostles. Throughout the church, we seek to embody and spread the evangelical spirit of Jesus’ childhood, helping all people, especially our poorest brothers and sisters, to live out their baptismal vocation.

OUR CHARISM

Our charism is to seek to be conformed into the likeness of Jesus in the mystery of the spirituality of his childhood.

OUR SPIRITUALITY

Following the model of the Child Jesus, our spirituality is expressed through humility, simplicity, joy and the complete abandonment of self in complete trust in God the Father.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to spread throughout the church the evangelical spirit of Jesus in his childhood, by means of evangelization and catechesis, helping the poorest of our brothers and sisters through mission work, boarding schools, support for and empowerment of women and pastoral service in parishes.

OUR MOTTO

“Here I am, Lord, to do your will.” Our motto synthesizes the dispositions of Jesus’ heart in his redemptive work, and reminds us of his complete willingness to do the Father’s will in his filial oblation.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERS

Our congregation has lay associates, who live out our charism and spirituality from their state in life, and who collaborate in the mission which we carry out in the church.
