Memorial service for Father Virgilio Elizondo scheduled for Saturday, March 19

A memorial service for Father Virgilio Elizondo will be held on Saturday, March 19, at 11 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima Church at 9883 Marbach Road in San Antonio. Father Virgil, who died on March 14, had served as a parochial vicar at St. Rose of Lima for many years.

Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS, will be the presider at the bilingual liturgy, and priests of the Archdiocese of San Antonio will serve as concelebrants.

Homilist at the Mass will be Father David Garcia, director of the Old Spanish Missions and a longtime friend of Father Virgil.

A private interment service for family members will take place at a later date.
