Holy Spirit Catholic School celebrates 50 years of excellence in education! Holy Spirit Catholic School began as a school for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in 1965 in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church parish hall initially staffed by Benedictine Sisters. In 1966 the present school building was dedicated and grades 1st through 5th were added. The Kindergarten class was added in 1974. Significant modifications and additions were made between 1985 through 1988 to further accommodate the growth and success of the school. To meet the demand for admission, the school began the planned systematic doubling of each grade level beginning with the K5 class in 1991.

To house Holy Spirit’s burgeoning community, the school built a second structure in 1998. The Parish now serves 3,700 families, and the school’s enrollment is strongly maintained at about 450 students. Holy Spirit opened their first ever PK3 classroom in the 2012-2013 school year. In the 2015-2016 school year there are now two classrooms per grade from PK3-8th grades. The PK3–3rd grades are self contained classrooms, with full time assistants in PK3, PK4, Kindergarten, 1st Grade and an assistant that is shared by both 2nd grades. Fourth and fifth grade classrooms are departmentalized and our middle school (6th-8th) grade teachers are specialized in the subjects they teach.

In 2002, the Parish purchased 11 acres of undeveloped land on West Avenue near Antonian College Preparatory High School that was developed into a beautiful athletic complex used by both the school and Parish.

Alumni parents, students, and teachers gathered in August to celebrate these 50 years of excellence. The catered party served over 500 guests and went on well into the evening. Class group photos were taken, memories were shared, and many former students and teachers reconnected. Mass was celebrated on Sunday and a reception and open house followed.

For 50 years, Holy Spirit Catholic School – Faculty, Staff and Parish Family – has been dedicated to providing excellence in education centered on the teachings of the Catholic Faith.

As we build on our past successes we look forward to our bright future at Holy Spirit Catholic School.
