Last fall, Bishop John W. Yanta was honored at a luncheon by Hope for the Future to celebrate his 39 years as a priest and 20 years as a Bishop, and all his accomplishments in the Archdiocese of San Antonio. With his friends by his side, Trisha Stoddard-Ramirez, Hope for the Future Board Member and Past Chair, along with Hope for the Future representatives announced the creation of the Bishop John W. Yanta Scholars so that his legacy of serving others can continue on.

Today, Hope for the Future is proud to announce the selection of the inaugural Bishop John W. Yanta Scholar, 2nd grader Noah Montez, who will receive a $1,000 scholarship to attend a Catholic school of his choice for the 2015-16 school year.

The scholarship was made possible thanks to the generous support from the Bishop Yanta Scholarship Founding donors who graciously provided the seed funding to start the honorary scholarship. Some of the founding funders have issued a challenge, and will match up to $1,000 in additional pledges to the scholarship fund. Your generous gift of $50 will be doubled to $100, as a part of the match, making every dollar count for the scholarship.

Bishop Yanta offered this challenge and prayer, ā€œMay this endowment grow and grow for Catholic education of needy children. Thank you for the tributes.ā€
