Father Len Brown, CMF, dies in San Antonio at age 71

Funeral arrangements have been confirmed for Father Len Brown, CMF, who died on September 10 in San Antonio at the age of 71 years old.

Father Len had been hospitalized with heart issues related to COVID-19. He had served at the Mexican American Catholic College as Vice President and Director of Diaconal Studies, Campus Ministry, and Formation.

Father Len was instrumental in helping to lead the archdiocesan diaconate program, one of the largest in the country. In his religious community, the Claretian Missionaries, he had served as a member of the General Council on the Economy, as well as Prefect of Spirituality on the Provincial Council. He had also worked in college Campus Ministry roles.

He was born in Louisiana and is survived in death by his siblings: brothers Leigh and Frank Harper Brown and sisters Darlene Lawson and Glirma Guerra.

A viewing and rosary vigil service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18, beginning at 2 p.m. atThe Angelus Funeral Home at 1119 North St. Mary’s Street in San Antonio. Viewing will start at 2 p.m. and rosary will follow at 4 p.m., and the vigil service will be livestreamed at https://fb.me/e/1y3sKfA96.

The funeral Mass will be held on Monday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church at 617 South Santa Rosa Avenue in San Antonio. It will be livestreamed at https://fb/me/e/13V9SScI4 and https://youtu.be/3U7KBQGkJTM.

Interment following the funeral Mass will be recorded from Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian in San Antonio. Due to current COVID restrictions in place the grave side service will take place at 2 p.m. and will be private to family only. The burial will be recorded and later uploaded to the same Facebook and YouTube links above.
