Catholic School Students Participate in School Choice Rally in Austin

A bus full of smiling Catholic school students, parent volunteers and staff took a trip to Austin Friday morning to participate in the National School Choice Week Rally at the stat’s Capitol. Ā Students, includingĀ Hope for the Future Student Ambassadors, held signs, wore bright yellow scarves and event participated in a flash mob in support of school choice in Texas.Ā An estimated 3,000 students, including 700 Catholic school students, participated in the rally. Students from San Antonio enjoyed a photo with Texas Land Commissioner, George P. Bush following his speech atĀ the event.
āBeing a part of the rally allowed our students to feel like they are part of a bigger movement,ā said Veronica Montalvo, Director of Enrichment Programs for the Catholic Schools Office.
Following the rally, students ate lunch on the Capitol grounds under the warm sun and interacted with students from around Texas.
