Catholic Charities opens Counseling Office in Southeast San Antonio

Catholic Charities held a grand opening ceremony for its dedicated counseling site, Grace Counseling, on November 21 at the facility at 2911 S. New Braunfels. Leadership from the agency, the Archdiocese of San Antonio, the City of San Antonio, and other dignitaries were on site for a ribbon cutting, blessing, and tour.

Grace Counseling will offer quality, holistic, and affordable counseling to individuals, children, couples, and families in San Antonio offering teletherapy to those outside of the city and a remote site in Del Rio opening in January 2022. Spanish-speaking therapy will be offered. Specialties include anxiety, depression, and stress management, grief and loss, relationship and marriage counseling, parenting concerns and adjustment, anger management, and more. Additionally, counselors will be able to provide specialized and expert care in healing a child and his/her family following a trauma through trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and sand tray therapy to name a few.

Catholic Charities’ President/CEO, J. Antonio Fernandez, said, “Catholic Charities is always adapting our mission to the needs of our community. Throughout the pandemic, we identified a growing need for counseling as individuals, children, couples, and families were isolated from others, their schools, and their jobs, not to mention the general anxiety and stress caused by a change in our environment. We planned the opening of this new site with the holistic care of our community in mind and with teletherapy and a satellite office in Del Rio caring for those outside of San Antonio.”
