Catholic Charities opens boutique to assist new families

Catholic Charities’ Guadalupe Community Center recently opened Veronica’s Boutique, a free program for pregnant and parenting families that provides parenting education, material assistance like diapers and formula, and wraparound services for families with children younger than 36 months.

Veronica’s Boutique will be open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with virtual services and curbside distribution to maintain social distancing guidelines. Free material assistance includes diapers, wipes, baby clothes, baby shoes, socks, formula, and baby food. Parenting education and guidance will also be offered in a one-on-one setting with wraparound services like birth doula, breastfeeding, counseling, and other support offered through case management. Those eligible for free services include pregnant and parenting families with children younger than 36 months. Appointments are requested by calling (210) 226-6178.

Dr. Mitch and Chrissy Finnie, sponsors of Veronica’s Boutique, are honored to name the boutique for their daughter who passed of cancer at 2 years old. With a commitment to assist families and children, the Finnies both opened an endowment and sponsored the boutique to keep their daughter’s memory alive in the hearts of all who knew her. Chrissy Finnie says “we wanted something to help her live on, doing so much more than she could’ve in her own life.”

Catholic Charities’ President/CEO, J. Antonio Fernandez, says, “Strengthening families continues to be a priority for us by helping moms and dads with guidance and support whether it be emergency financial assistance, parenting education, or counseling. We are happy to offer this program at Guadalupe Community Center where families can easily access our services.”
