Catholic Charities hosts free fall event in westside

Catholic Charities hosted Little Pumpkin’s Palooza, a free and safe drive-thru event, with music, hot dogs and chips, trunk-or-treat, and a pumpkin patch at the St. Stephen’s CARE Center on South Zarzamora Street October 29. Staff and volunteers dressed in costumes while safely distributing candy to participants in their cars.

The annual Little Pumpkin’s Palooza provided the West Side community a safe, fun, and free fall festival that included hot dogs and chips and trunk-or-treat to families and children in a drive-thru event. RKCares also sponsored a pumpkin patch for the first 300 families to take a pumpkin home. Staff and volunteers remained committed to delivering a safe event wearing masks and practicing social distancing while serving families in the comfort of their vehicles. Families were encouraged to arrive in their costumes ready for trunk-or-treat.

Natasha Bridges, senior director of Family and Children’s Services, says, “For nearly 20 years, we have celebrated traditions with families and the events continue to evolve every year, especially this one. Little Pumpkin’s Palooza is always an exciting event for staff to host for families in our care and families in our community.”

Catholic Charities’ President/CEO, J. Antonio Fernandez, said, “We were excited to again host Little Pumpkin’s Palooza as a drive-thru event. We wanted the family and children in our community to enjoy a fall festival in their own community.”
