Khaki & Plaid Gala Has Record Year Raising Funds for Catholic Schools Tuition Assistance

San Antonio –Ā On Jan. 14, more than 1,200 business, civic, clergy and educators came together for one of the largest fundraisers supporting Hope for the Future (HOPE) and Catholic School education in the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The Khaki & Plaid, Plaidi (Plaid-EE)-Gras Masquerade Ball was held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center to benefit HOPE, the tuition assistance arm for Catholic schools in the archdiocese. The Khaki & Plaid Gala culminated with the announcement of the Homecoming King & Queen as the result of a nearly four-month long journey to raise funds and awareness for the organization and Catholic Schools. HOPE is pleased to announce John McNair of McNair Custom Homes and Laura Macom of Boone, Rocheleau & Rodriguez, PLLC as the 2017 Khaki & Plaid King and Queen, respectively. As a whole, the 10-person Homecoming Court raised over $660,000 for Catholic school education.

This yearā€™s Khaki & Plaid Gala Executive Chairs were Don & Carol Meyer along with Honorary Chair, Rosemary Kowalski. Both executive and honorary chairs were instrumental in making the entire evening a success which raised a total of $951,000 for HOPE. The 2017 King & Queen were succeeded by former Khaki & Plaid Royalty including 2015 King Fr. Eric Ritter and Queen Diana Barrios-Trevino, along with 2016 King Bryan Grundhoefer and Queen Paula Dickson. Proceeds from the event benefit families in need in the form of tuition assistance, so their children can attend a Catholic school of their choice.

The Archdiocese of San Antonio, along with dedicated and passionate business and civic leaders created HOPE in December 2006. HOPE receives donations from many generous contributors, business and foundations, and annually helps families in need by providing tuition assistance to attend a Catholic school of their choice in the archdiocese. HOPE is celebrating its 10 year anniversary, and to-date has raised more than $17 million, assisting 12,000 children.
