Catholic high schools to conduct community-wide open houses

Strong academics and athletics highlight the Catholic high school experience

Catholic schools in the archdiocese coordinated an Open House Weekend November 13-14 in which all local Catholic high schools invite families and students to explore their options when it comes to selecting a school that will foster their academic, athletic and leadership development.

Each of the nine Catholic high schools within the archdiocese hosted Open Houses at varying times throughout the weekend. Activities included school tours, electives and sports fairs, access to school leadership, review of diploma program requirements and more.

Local students have been among the most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in parental concern over academic and social performance, and learning loss. Catholic high schools actively work to mitigate those factors with consistency in high-quality academics, faith formation, community service and leadership development.

At Antonian College Preparatort High School on November 10, six senior athletes signed their National Letters of Intent to attend and play sports at various colleges across the country, with John Mein, principal, present at the ceremony.

They were Carleigh Wenzel with Virginia Tech women’s basketball, Garett Kaalund with University of Nebraska track and field, Geanice Morales with Providence College softball, Kate Roberts with Texas State University women’s soccer, and Ella Hutzler and Hailey Sonka, both to St. Edward’s University softball.
