Chrysalis Ministries will be holding its annual New Beginnings Spring Luncheon on Thursday, May 11 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church’s banquet hall. Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS, will be honored as the first recipient of the St. Jude Thaddeus Community Service Award. Cleto Rodriguez, San Antonio’s “clean comedian” and Fox News First morning personality, will be master of ceremonies.

Chrysalis Ministries, founded in 1941, and incorporated as a 501(c) (3) organization in 1972, provides chaplaincy services, substance recovery, character development, and life skills classes to 40,000 incarcerated individuals in ten adult and juvenile detention and treatment facilities annually. They also provide these same services and courses to those formerly incarcerated and to their families. In addition, a job readiness course is provided to those in need of finding employment. The organization has a success rate of less than 15 percent recidivism and nearly 50 percent of clients who complete the job readiness training obtain employment.

We feel blessed and extremely grateful, that every year we have been able to help the families and children of the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated through our various children’s programs, “Stuff the Backpack,” “Happy Feet,” “Light up a Child’s Heart,” and “Mato’s Make-A-Birthday-Wish.”

Chrysalis Ministries’ mission is to facilitate the personal, emotional, and spiritual transformation of incarcerated individuals, those formerly incarcerated and their families.
