What does Lent meant to you?

Lent is a season of preparation for Easter when Christians are called to almsgiving and prayer. Lent is a time when we are called to internal reflection and sacrifice to grow closer to God and our faith. Oftentimes, Lent is a season centered on the concept of fasting. The concept of food goes way beyond simple nourishment, but is something emotionally satisfying.

Breaking bread with others is central to our culture and identity. It is not just a meal, but an experience of encounter with another person. This Lenten season, the challenge is to encounter God through those who truly are hungry.

More than one million people in Texas experience hunger on a regular basis. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we are called to respond. Catholic Charities humbly asks you help us feed the hungry throughout the Archdiocese of San Antonio by supporting 40 Cans for Lent.

By providing non-perishable food donations, you are responding to the Gospel message of feeding the hungry and offering more than just a meal. We are offering compassion and hope to those in need.

As we prepare for Lent, consider helping us reach the goal of 100,000 pounds of food to serve those most in need.
