Assembly 2020 is different than previous years. Our virtual Assembly will be livestreamed on all of our social media platforms and broadcast on Spectrum Channel 15, Catholic Television of San Antonio. The day will be shorter than previous years and run from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM. It will begin with Mass and registered attendees will access break-out sessions through a link they will receive in their email, as well as have access to all break-out sessions after the Assembly has ended.

1. What is Assembly?

Assembly is an annual gathering in which Archbishop Gustavo celebrates the beauty of the Roman Catholic faith with the people of God in the 19 counties that make up the Archdiocese of San Antonio! At this event we celebrate holy Mass with Archbishop Gustavo, hear keynote addresses and talks surrounding the theme. This year’s theme is Sent by the Spirit: Building a Catholic Culture of Discipleship.



2. Why should I spend my Saturday at Assembly?

Assembly 2020 is a remarkable opportunity of evangelization at this difficult time. Attend Assembly and walk away knowing that Christ is alive, filling us with hope and leading us to connect with those who feel disconnected from the church. Assembly continues to be the largest gathering of Catholics in our local Church! This year in a virtual format, it will feature high-quality speakers, Mass with the Archbishop, and reflection on our call as missionary disciples.



3. Is registering for Assembly required to participate?

No. Registration is not required to watch the Assembly. However, Assembly registration will enhance your participation experience. Assembly registration will insure that we have your email address which is needed to receive links to view break-out presentations at the scheduled time, and to receive the Assembly Program with the Worship Aid. Also, when Assembly is over, all registered attendees will receive an email including links to ALL the break-out sessions to be viewed at any time.



4. I don’t know too much about Facebook, YouTube or how to watch live-steamed events. How can I participate in Assembly? | No sé mucho sobre Facebook, YouTube o cómo ver eventos en vivo. ¿Cómo puedo participar en la Asamblea?

On Nov. 7, the social media platforms of the Archdiocese of San Antonio will stream video of Assembly 2020. Please be sure to subscribe, like, and follow our social media platforms today to insure you receive reminders leading up to Nov. 7:

Watching the Assembly livestream on YouTube is FREE with your Google or YouTube account. Follow the instructions in our how-to guide to set a notification for when the Assembly is live.

6. Do you need to have a Facebook account to view the Assembly? | ¿Necesitas tener una cuenta de Facebook para ver la Asamblea?

The Assembly livestream will be FREE. You do not need a Facebook account to watch the livestream, but having a Facebook account will allow you to interact on social media. Follow the instructions in our how-to guide to participate interactively.

7. How do I select the break-out session that I want to engage in?

When you register, you will provide your email address. At the scheduled time on Nov. 7, we will send you an email with the links needed to participate in the break-out presentations and you will be able to click the presentation that you want to experience. For this reason, it's important to register to insure you don't miss any communication regarding the event.



8. Will I be able to enjoy breakout sessions in my language? | ¿Podré disfrutar de presentaciones en mi idioma?

Yes, there will be a number of breakout presentations in the language of your preference. In addition to that, subtitles in either English or Spanish might be available for some presentations.

Si, habrá un numero determinado de presentaciones en el lenguaje de su preferencia. Además de esto, subtitulos en inglés o español pudieran estar disponibles para algunas presentaciones.



9. Will I receive Continuing Formation (CF) credits if I watch the Assembly?

Attendance at Assembly may be used for up to 4 hours of Continuing Formation Credit (CF). To receive your credits, complete the Continuing Formation Form online (coming soon). Once your form has been submitted, you will receive your Certificate. Fill in your name and number of clock hours on the certificate for your records only. This certificate is only valid if you (1) registered for the Assembly, and (2) submitted the Continuing Formation Form. The credits will be recorded and kept on file by the Institute for Lay Ecclesial Ministry and Service.



10. Is the Assembly mandatory for Catholic School Teachers?

As part of the Continuing Formation component for all Catholic School personnel, Assembly provides valuable ministerial knowledge and spiritual nourishment. Catholic School Teachers are highly encourage to participate and take advantage of the offerings.
