You Make a Difference
God has given each one of us gifts, graces, talents and abilities that are to be shared responsibly and wisely with others. Stewardship is more than the occasional act of charity and service. It is the way we live our lives, the commitment we give of our time, talent and treasure in thanksgiving for all the blessings we have received. We share those gifts with our Archdiocesan community.
YOUR GIFT TRANSFORMS LIVES
In the Archdiocese of San Antonio, with over 700,000 Catholics, the Mass is celebrated in a number of different languages, representing many rich cultural traditions. Like the many gifts of the Holy Spirit, this landscape of diversities unites to form one Body of Christ. United as one church, you can bring Christ into the lives of many in a powerful way. At this time in the history of the church, we are called to a transformative faith that manifests itself through the New Evangelization. The Appeal is one way you can respond to this call to transform the future in our parishes and in the greater church.
YOUR GIFT GIVES FAITH AND HOPE
Our spiritual transformation is like a seed that gives new life. Pope Francis says in his Apostolic Exhortation, The Joy of the Gospel, “God, sends his Spirit into our hearts to make us his children, transforming us and enabling us to respond to his love by our lives.” You can help to bring about this transformation of the New Evangelization that will help our parishes to grow and flourish. Your participation in this united effort will enable hearts to be touched with a new joy and enthusiasm through the living and the sharing of our faith.
YOUR GIFT GUIDES THE SPIRIT IN TO THE HEARTS OF GODS PEOPLE
The Holy Spirit is the soul of the church. It is He who continues to guide the life and mission of the church. Following the Consecration of the Archdiocese to the Holy Spirit, we are seeing in our archdiocese a transformation, breathing new life into the church. Whether we are feeding the poor, providing a Catholic education for our children, evangelizing and forming our youth, keeping our families strong and united, or helping our seminarians to discern and prepare to live a life of priestly witness, your gift to the Appeal is bringing Christ’s love into the world and Transforming the Future.
YOUR GIFT DEVELOPS DISCIPLES AND MISSIONARIES
Pope Francis has said that we are, “without exception, missionary disciples,” with a missionary impulse capable of transforming today’s world. As we set out on this mission of transformation, the Holy Father asks us to courageously imagine what is possible if you allow yourself to become an instrument of God’s Divine Grace. By supporting the Appeal, you help to provide the structures in faith formation that will revitalize the mission of our parishes through the Archdiocesan Catechetical Center and the offices of Marriage and Family Life, Life Justice and Peace, Youth Ministry, Worship and Liturgy and others.
YOUR GIFT IS A MISSION OF LOVE
Social service ministries funded by the Appeal touch the everyday lives of people with the love of Christ. Through your contribution to the 2015 Appeal, many lives will be transformed. Catholic Charities will be able to establish a new Pregnancy Center near an abortion clinic. At St. Peter-St. Joseph Children’s Home, abused and abandoned children will find refuge and hope for a better life, and through the Criminal Justice Ministry, the incarcerated and their families will have a second chance to build a new life in Christ.
YOUR GIFT ENABLES OTHERS TO ENCOUNTER CHRIST
Parish evangelization efforts are increasing Mass attendance and engaging and energizing our leadership to enthusiastically bring the Good News to our communities through outreach programs. The Office for the New Evangelization, working with other agencies like Virgen de Guadalupe Radio Foundation, has gathered groups as large as 1,200 individuals to knock on doors, allowing their neighbors to experience a true encounter with Christ through his saving love. With your support through the Appeal, this evangelization initiative will draw many to Christ and fulfill our missionary call to make Christ present in the world.
YOUR GIFT BRINGS A LEGACY OF FAITH TO GODS PEOPLE
The needs of young people are central to the work of the church, because they are the future of the church and we know there are too many that are disengaged or indifferent. It is our privilege and responsibility to preserve our Catholic faith for our children, and for their children. The Appeal supports Hope for the Future in its efforts to help keep their children in Catholic schools. Within our college campuses, the Office of Campus Ministry and Young Adults provides faith formation opportunities that are preparing leaders and building a legacy of faith for future generations. struggling families keep their children in Catholic schools. YOUR GIFT SUPPORTS THOSE THAT ARE CALLED TO THE CONSECRATED LIFE
The faith-transforming experiences provided by the programs and services funded by the Appeal give young people opportunities to hear the call to a religious vocation. In the Archdiocese of San Antonio we are blessed to have a large number of men who are in formation to serve the people of God as priests and a growing number of young people discerning a vocation to the priesthood and religious life. When you support Appeal-funded ministries like the San Antonio Seminarian Fund and the Office of Vocations, you are making choices that will have a lasting impact in Transforming the Future.
At the end of every Mass, we are called to “go in peace to love and serve the Lord”. WE are challenged to help build our faith community. One person cannot do it all; but by each of us doing something, we can make a difference in the lives of people throughout the Archdiocese of San Antonio. Through the Archbishop’s Appeal, countless lives have been touched, uplifted and transformed.
