CHRISTUS Health, Blue Cross reach agreement, avoid contract termination

CHRISTUS Health announced March 31 that it has reached an agreement with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) to remain in its network.

“We are pleased that we have been able to continue our relationship with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas without any disruption for their members,” said Shannon Stansbury, vice president of Managed Care for CHRISTUS Health.  “We know it’s important to BCBSTX members that our CHRISTUS Hospitals and the vital, high quality services they provide remain available in their network.  We would like to thank all those who made their voices heard, expressing to both parties that they wanted to continue choosing CHRISTUS hospitals.”

While negotiations between health care providers and payors are confidential, CHRISTUS Health was able to come to a middle ground that will allow it to continue its more than 50-year relationship with BCBSTX.

“Affordable health care is important to all of us, and you can count on CHRISTUS Health to manage costs at our facilities in a way that will allow us to continue to provide our communities with the very best quality care,” Stansbury said.
