GIVING GUIDE
“Bring the whole tithe into the store house, so that there may be food in
My house, and test Me now in this”, says the Lord of hosts, “if I will
open for you the windows of heaven, and pour out for you a blessing
until it overflows.” - Malachi 3:10
“For God loves a cheerful giver” - II Corinthians 9:7
“My God will fully supply whatever you need, in accord with his glorious
riches in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:19
Stewardship in Giving
All that we have and all that we are, is God’s gift to us,
what we do with our gifts is our gift to God. We are not
owners of what we have, we are only stewards of what we
have.
In gratitude we understand we are all part of the same
spiritual family. The Archbishop’s Appeal is an opportunity
to participate in extending a helping hand to those in our
community who need encouragement and support. Your
contributions are necessary to building up the church in
San Antonio.

Tithing
Tithing is giving the first fruits of your gifts in gratitude
back to God and typically consists of 10% of your total
annual household income. However, as you grow your
understanding of Stewardship, do not be discouraged if you
are not currently giving at this level. After prayerful
consideration, start at a percent appropriate for you and
your family. If you are giving 10%, consider giving more.
God has promised to reward your generosity: “Give and it
will be given to you.” - Luke 6:38
As a disciple of Christ, you are called to first support your
parish in your giving. In fact this is the fifth Precept of the
Church: “The faithful are obliged to assist with the material
needs of the Church, each according to his own ability.” A
good guide to follow is to consider giving at least 5% of
your total annual household income to your parish, 1% to
the Archbishop’s Appeal (Guide for Monthly Giving to the
Archbishop’s Appeal) and 4% to weekly Second Collections,
or an equal percentage to other charities or worthy
causes—for a 10% total giving.
